Maca root is Peruvian ginseng. Like ginseng, it is known for its effect on stamina and its normalisng effect on hormone balance. Studies have been done which suggest its supportive effect on reproductive health, thyroid function, respiratory function and stress adaptability.
Peruvian Harvest Raw Gelatinized Maca Powder is made from selected certified organic dried maca roots grown at 14,000ft altitude, at an impressive 6:1 concentration from dried roots (80% black, 15% purple, 5% yellow), using their unique raw gelatinization process, a slow process with controlled temperature (not over 45°C) that removes the starches from the root to obtain a more concentrated powder that concentrates the flavour, nutritional value and makes it easier to digest and absorb.
Industry average for maca production is 2:1 concentration and usually is not made from dark maca (black and purple) with higher nutritional value. Compare this with any other maca product on the market and notice how much tastier and potent this is. (Some has remarked that it tastes like peanut butter.) This is what maca "should" be!
Caution: take 1/2 or 1/3 of what you are used to taking and go slow! While it is not a stimulant, but rather an adaptogen, best time to take is in the morning or when you need energy boost.
