This complex magnesium formula is a blend between Magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium oxide providing you with 120mg of elemental magnesium.  Magnesium oxide (MgO) is often used in conventional medicine as a stool softener.  It can be used on a daily basis as a stool softener without causing dependence.  Mg salts are indicated for elderly patients with decreased bowel muscle tone, especially those with high risk of stroke, due to the fact that staining to defecate is one of the leading causes of hemorrhagic stroke in elderly.

The chelated form of magnesium in Finlandia's Magnesium Bisglycinate has proven to be the most bioavailable form of the micro-nutrient with rates of absorption in excess of 200% higher than other forms of magnesium.  Magnesium Bisglycinate is magnesium bound to the amino acid glycine.  This binding makes the magnesium highly absorbable. For example, you would have to take 4 times the amount of magnesium citrate to get the equivalent amount of magnesium bisglycinate.
