Immune support: Immune/Lymph tincture versus Infection tincture

The immune system is an incredibly complex network of specialized cells that help to defend the body against infection. Our two main types of immunity are our innate, and our adaptive immune systems. These two immune networks are comprised of several different kinds of immune cells, this means that finding the right immune support is key for preventing and treating different types of infections such as bacterial, viral, yeast and fungal infections.

Finlandia’s own herbal dispensary have two in house formulas for immune support. Our customer’s regularly ask what sets the two formulas apart, and what they are best used for.

Immune/Lymph Tincture

Our Immune/Lymph tincture is scientifically designed, utilizing traditional herbal medicine to help relieve cold symptoms and to fight infections especially those of the sinuses and chest. A key ingredients is Lomatium Root (Lomatium dissectum), also known as Desert Parsley Root. This herb is a potent antimicrobial (antiviral, antifungal, and antibacterial), as well as a stimulating expectorant which can help to relieve excessive phlegm production in the sinuses and chest.

In addition to containing antimicrobial and antiseptic herbs, our Immune/Lymph tincture also contains supportive lymphatic herbs like Cleavers herb (Galium aparine), Prickly Ash Bark (Zanthoxylum americanum), Wild Indigo Root (Baptisia tinctoria), and Echinacea Root (Echinacea augustifolia and/or purpurea). These herbs help to clean infections in the blood which in turn supports the immune and lymphatic system to work more effectively.

Our lymphatic system works closely with our immune system, although it is often forgotten about when formulating herbal treatments. The lymphatic system plays an important role within the body as it transports cells of the immune system, filters pathogens from the body, as well as transporting dietary fats and fat soluble vitamins, such as vitamin D, that are absorbed in the gut. As we know vitamin D is vital for a healthy and correctly functioning immune system.

The addition of several lymphatic herbs in this formula can result in having a stronger immune system, being able to recover more quickly from illnesses, and feel strengthened and energized, with increased vigor.

It is useful in cases of recurrent infections that have infective patterns and symptoms that are difficult to identify.

The addition of Lemon Balm (Melissa officinalis), St. John’s Wort Herb (Hypericum perforatum), Echinacea Root (Echinacea angustifolia),and Tree of Life Leaf (Thuja occidentalis) makes this formula have broad-spectrum anti-viral activity, as well as the ability to reduce the symptoms of infection such as excessive mucus, inflammation, and pain. Please note that St. John’s Wort Herb can interact with many pharmaceutical medications and may not be suitable for everyone.

Our infection formula also contains Marigold Blossoms (Calendula officinalis) and Tree of Life Leaves (Thuja occidentalis), both of which have potent anti-fungal actions. Tree of Life Leaves can positively influence tissue regeneration for skin and mucus membranes infected by fungal-type microbes, while Marigold Blossoms are anti-inflammatory to the skin and also promote tissue healing.
